Formed in 2008 by Gary and Garrett, Shove was conceived as a a pure rock band and a vehicle for the two musicians to showcase and continue their long standing song writing partnership in the Irish music scene. The band debuted on the 29th August 2008 in Radio City Dublin. Reaction was instant and electric. Shove continued to perform and craft their sound with bookings in some of Ireland’s most respected venues; such as ‘Whelans’, ‘Sugar Club’, ‘Hard Rock Café’ and ‘Captain Americas’, effectively picking up a loyal, passionate and enthusiastic fan base.
Soon the band were promoting their first E.P. release ‘Shatter’, which was released to critical acclaim and garnered the band their first of many commercial radio plays, live interviews and on-air performances. It was during this phase that Shove began to appear in high profile competitions. Notably, reaching the Grand Final in the 2011 Captain Americas National Battle of The Bands (fending off competition from over 300 acts) and a Semi-Final showing in the Hard Rock Café Global Calling competition. In the same year, Shove began work on their first studio album in SALT Studios, Howth Co. Dublin, under the watchful eye of the legendary Frank Kearns (Cactus World News) and highly respected engineer and producer Niall Curran. The collaboration was a complete success and a fruitful partnership was born.
The vision of Frank and Niall blended seamlessly with the band and the partnership looks set to continue for many years to come. The band have nurtured an exceptional online presence as well, as hundreds of new fans from countries such as the UK, the US, Australia and Continental Europe enjoy and interact with Shove’s music globally. Internet feedback has been overwhelming as people readily relate to the band, their vision and clear, unique and straight forward brand of rock music. In the modern age of music Shove stand out simply because they refuse to be labeled. The vision always has, and continues to be, a passionate, uncompromising brand of true rock and roll.
The band feels the weight of the great bands gone before resting on their shoulders. Bands like Pearl Jam, U2, Bon Jovi, AC/DC et al. To emulate their talents and success is the number one goal of this ambitious and relentless young group.
