‘The Golden Sands’ is the latest single from singer-songwriter Ultan Conlon which will be released on 31 October. Taken from Ultan’s second album Songs Of Love So Cruel, the acclaimed album co-produced and mixed in Sheffield by Colin Elliot (Richard Hawley). Ultan has received extensive airplay with the album in Ireland, the UK and Europe. National broadcasters RTE, Today FM, Newstalk and regionals nationwide have all aired tracks. Also radioplay in the UK BBC Radio 2 Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin Criminals), BBC Radio Scotland Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue), BBC Ulster and BBC Wales. Ultan is currently enjoying a time of great success when five of his original songs and a score co-composed with guitarist Eoin McCann all feature in the award winning film Songs For Amy, which played at IMC cinemas nationwide (IRL) in May, with a UK and American theatrical release in the pipeline. Ultan has opened for artists such as John Martyn, John Grant, Eddi Reader, Patty Griffin and Richard Hawley. He has shared duets with both John Martyn and Glen Hansard. The John Martyn collaboration, a song penned by Ultan called Really Gone, was recorded in 2005.Ultan later returned the favour by recording an early Martyn track Back to Stay, which featured on the tribute album Johnny Boy Would Love This alongside Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini, David Gray, Beck, Phil Collins, Robert Smith, Lisa Hannigan and many more world-renowned artists.
