&U&I

Birmingham’s &U&I will release their debut full length ‘Light Bearer’ through their own Ondryland record label on 21st November, 2011. The band released their first EP ‘Kill the Man that Shot that Man’ in October 2010. Produced by Chris Common of These Arms Are Snakes fame, ‘Light Bearer’ is a cohesive meshing of riffery, melody and raw emotion. Wiz comments – “Light Bearer was written with the intention of it being an album rather than just a selection of songs. We wanted the record to flow from start to finish. This was factored into the writing process quite heavily. We tried to step away from using parts that were off kilter or unpredictable for the sake of it, instead using parts which suit the pace and feel of each song. Nothing for the record was preconceived; every part of the album was written between the three of us in our small little practice room.”

SHAPES

Since first launching onto the scene in January 2008, Shapes have played shows across the length and breadth of the UK, including numerous self-organised tours. The 1st release ‘Get Your Learn On’ was released through new indie label Godmonkey Recordings in May 2008 to rave reviews and has sold well at gigs, online, and in stores In 2009 Big Scary Monsters added Shapes to their ever-impressive roster and the band enjoyed their busiest and most productive year yet. Shapes released their first record for BSM, entitled The Pasture, The Oil in May 2009. The Pasture, The Oil was recorded in January 2009 with Nick Finnish (Jonny Truant, Blakfish, Youves) and mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Rapture, Fallout Boy) Japanese label Zankyo Records picked up on the band and released the two EPs together for the Japanese market which coincided with a Japanese tour to support the release.. 2010 saw Shapes start the year touring alongside GlassJaw and Pulled Apart By Horses, before taking a slower pace from touring whilst writing their debut album. Shapes booked in to Tonteknik Studios in Umea, Sweden for December/November 2010 to record their debut full-length album with legendary producer Eskil Lovstrom, famed for his work with Refused, Poison The Well, In Flames, Hell Is For Heroes, Meshuggah and more. Produced by Eskil Lovstrom, mixed by Eskil Llovstrom and Pelle Henricson and mastered by Pelle Henricson, the album sees a new side to the band and is backed with an incredible sound. The album has received extensive support from the press with reviews hitting no less than 4/5 or 8/10. http://www.weareshapes.com/ http://weareshapes.bandcamp.com/ http://www.facebook.com/weareshapes
