Rathangan singer-songwriter, Tristan Carroll started playing guitar at the age of 11 and has become inseparable from the instrument ever since! His early influences leaned towards the heavier side of the musical spectrum, eventually tending more towards the mainstream, infused with a love for harmonies and improvisation that continues to this day.

Tristan played, and continues to play, electric guitar in numerous cover and original bands in the Kildare area, until discovering artists like Newton Faulkner, Michael Hedges, Andy McKee etc, who used the body of the acoustic guitar to create a whole new set of musical sounds, and deciding “that’s what I want to do!” It is this modern fingerstyle approach to guitar that forms the basis for many of Tristan’s songs, coupled with a fondness for music that grooves and an ear for melodic hooks.

In the past year, Tristan has shared stages with some of Ireland’s greatest up and coming artists, including Seven Days, The Barley Mob, Fox E and the Good Hands, The Fitzafrenic, Storyfold, King Modo and Delorentos, among others, as well as receiving praise from idol and fellow artist, Newton Faulkner, for his cover of the Talking Heads track “Psycho Killer”.

After touring and honing their trades in various other projects (both Nationally and Internationally), the members of KNOTS, Botham (Vox/Guitar), Eddie (Drums) and Ciaran (Bass) came together with a vision of creating something unique, something special if you will. Formed in January 2012 and taking inspiration from such bands as Pearl Jam, U2 and Jeff Buckley, the band have taken that sound and nurtured it into what you hear toda. A hook filled trio of rock that will get your heart singing and your feet dancing. Botham delivers powerful vocals mirrored with hooky guitars while Eddies groove laden drums drive the band forward with Ciarans pounding bass cementing it altogether. The outcome is un mistakenlyKNOTS. Already creating a buzz from live shows, the bands energetic, room shaking gigs are fast pacing them along and gaining the attention of music lovers and making them new fans in the process. 3 months into their very short career and having spent countless hours writing, gigging, and recording and the fruits of the bands labour, blood, sweat and tears can be heard in the band’s debut E.P.
