STORYFOLD

+ JET SET RADIO &

LAURA ELIZABETH HUGHES

Storyfold will return to headline Whelan’s, Wexford Street on Friday, 23rd of March to celebrate the release of their brand new single ‘The Sweetest Silence’. It will see the band return to the venue following their sold out show last May.

The Sweetest Silence is the fourth single to be taken from their debut album ‘Rocket Science’ and it sees pianist Lindsey Hogan take lead vocals for the first time. Already a fan favourite, the song was included in music bloggers 2UIBestow’s ‘Best 10 songs in 2011’. He said:

From the first few seconds of this track you know that it’s a special tune. Lindsey’s lead vocals are delightful and work so well with Paddy’s backing vocals. This is a fantastic uplifting song that deserves to be played loud.

2011 was a special year for the band, they released their debut album ‘Rocket Science’, were invited by the GAA to play for 40,000 people in Croke Park at an All-Ireland Quarter final and they continued to establish their reputation for cracking live shows at Sea Sessions, Arthurs Day, Indiependence and several other venues and events. The band also enjoyed extensive radio play for the singles ‘The Battle’ (two IMTV award nominations), Delphine Wakes and Another Year.

Support on the night will come from Jet Set Radio and Youtube sensation Laura Elizabeth Hughes in her first ever public gig.

Tickets for Whelan’s, March 23rd on sale from Ticketmaster or Wav for €10.

John Meagher from the Irish Independent said:

‘Revolving around the considerable talents of vocalists Paddy McKenna and Lindsey Hogan, (Storyfold) have made a sparkling debut of unabashed power-pop…. The result is a half a dozen or so songs crying out for daytime radio play. Trick of Light and Delphine Wakes are so catchy you’ll be singing back the chorus on second listen… It would be a churlish soul indeed who couldn’t find much to appreciate in this highly accomplished album’.
Colm O’Hare in Hotpress proclaimed: ‘(Storyfold) purvey a kind of indie/power pop that is impressively timeless and effervescent…. A classic American garage band sound, mixed in with a clever, Fountains of Wayne-like gift for melodic inventiveness…. On this evidence they could well be on their to way to reaching for the stars’.
