You’ve watched the film, heard the album and gone to the screenings. Now it’s time to see the live band tribute show! Fresh from highly successful appearances in venues such as the Button Factory and the Whale Theatre, Playback are hitting the newly refurbished Opium Rooms with their re-enactment of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.
Come and watch as the band blast through all sixteen of the songs from the film, including classics like “Psycho Killer”, “Once in a Lifetime”, “Burning Down the House” and “This Must Be the Place”.

Playback is an “album tribute” band. We cover classic albums in their entirety, then round out our sets with some of the artist’s greatest hits. So far our repertoire includes Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde (1960s), David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane (1970s) and Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense (1980s).
Our current project, “Still Don’t Make No Sense: The Music of Stop Making Sense”, includes every song from the film as well as classic visual moments like the tape recorder, the lamp dance, the projections and the Big Suit. The show’s lineup includes Justin McCann (vocals, keys), Cathal Farrelly (vocals, guitar, Big Suit), Jack Hussey (lead guitar), Gordon Dunning (bass), Mark Finlay (drums), Paula Size (vocals) and Ronan Slater (percussion).
