Aiken Promotions proudly presents Sam Wickens with support from Pine the Pilcrow live at Whelans (Upstairs),15th June. Tickets €11.80 inclusive of booking fee, on sale Wednesday at 9AM.

Sam is a mesmerising solo performer, gifted with the talent to arouse the soul with haunting melodies laced with poignant lyrics sung with his trademark transparency of spirit.

Compared to Death Cab for Cutie, Jeff Buckley, Tom Waits, John Martin.  Sam is a soulful writer and performer with a restless creativity, conveying a personal blend of Soul, Blues, Gospel, Folk and Indie.

In 2017 Sam worked with David Bowies producer Tony Visconti on a Sky Arts documentary about Tony’s amazing life and career.  Culminating in Sam working closely with music icons including Stuart Copeland, Nitin Sawhney, and Imelda May.

Support on the night comes from Pine ¶he Pilcrow write ‘stunning’, ‘spellbinding’ and ‘cinematic’ music. The Irish Times described this ambient folk band’s music as “gentle and cinematic, bittersweet and moving”.

They released their debut EP in March 2016 and haven’t looked back. With glowing reviews from Irelands leading music journals, they quickly became a wanted name; playing all the major venues around the country.
