After picking up Guitar at the age of 21, Ryan began writing songs as fast as he could while never letting go of his precious new limb. A hobby quickly became an obsession. While playing in countless venues around Dublin and the rest of the country Ryan has built a contagious energy on stage, laughing and joking with the crowd while then still holding the ability to make the entire room go quiet at a moments notice. After building strong following on YouTube through covering songs ranging from Ed Sheeran to Michael Jackson, Ryan felt it was getting time to start releasing some of his Original Music, the true passion. Upstairs at Whelans is Ryan’s first Headline gig, and it’s something he has wanted to do for a long time. With the release of his very first single “Arrows”, the excitement simply cannot be contained “Arrows was one of the first songs I wrote and so holds a particularly strong place in my heart, it lends itself to the more Pop influenced side of my musical compass and it’s a song that really came to life for me with the help of a few very talented friends Gerard Mollaghan and Dylan Colbert. I absolutely cannot wait to launch it’s release and especially knowing that it will be in Whelans, my absolute favourite Venue in Dublin! The song itself deals with a breakup. It’s about when you lose someone, you’re completely distraught. Nothing can salvage the shattered pieces of your heart after you’ve lost the perfect relationship, but as time passes you can start to see cracks show in this perfect image you had. You start to see all those things that you missed when you were looking at it through rose tinted glasses. The fights, the lies, the bitterness and even the truly horrible birthday presents haha. It’s about realising that the end of something isn’t the end of you.” Arrows will be officially released on Itunes, Spotify and other distributers on the day after the Launch, on the 13th of June.
