MCD.ie presents

Monday 31st December

NEW YEARS EVE w/ REPUBLIC OF LOOSE

MCD.ie are proud to present

NEW YEARS EVE w/

REPUBLIC OF LOOSE

plus very special guests TIERANNIESAUR

Trailblazers Republic of Loose will play a very special New Years Eve Show (December 31st!) at Whelans, with a DJ set from fierce Indie disco heros Tieranniesaur. Tickets priced €22.50 are onsale this Friday at 9am and will be sold exclusively through the WAV box office

ROLs live shows are legendary; they’ve mastered their art after years of whipping crowds into a frenzy, their hometown shows have attracted the likes of Sinead O’Connor(“simply the best Irish band ever”), Bono (ROL are sophisticated Soul Bootboys) , Snow Patrol (“best band in the country” Snow Patrol have also remixed Comeback Girl), Styles P, Damien Dempsey (“the best band in Ireland”), Shane McGowan, Jape, Gavin Friday, most of whom have hopped on stage with the band creating some thrilling and very special moments for the band and fans alike. With four albums and over 70 songs in their repertoire, The Loose need guidance. Which songs to play? Help design their setlist by voting at the Republic of Loose Facebook.

Their new single “They Pay For Love” is tearing up Irish radio and is available now to download from iTunes and all usual platforms.

It’s been two years since Republic Of Loose took a sharp left turn from the road they had paved with perfect pop songs to make an album The Irish Times described as “tangled up in banging, electro-laced club tunes”. 2010’s Bounce At The Devil left critics clamoring for superlatives to describe the sheer breadth of the bands creative reach. “A devilishly, decadently, defiantly great album” Hotpress

“an enormous artistic leap” The Sun “a throbbing, dirty, bounce-heavy sound that wipes the floor with the toe-curling crooners and pop tarts that are clogging up the Irish airwaves” The Mirror “an undeniably fantastic record” State.ie “leaves you breathless” Mail on Sunday “it’s sinfully good” Sunday World “a considerable leap forward on their terrific fourth album” RTE Guide

But after stretching those “4 to the floor” muscles, Mik Pyro and co. felt the time was right to treat the citizens of Looseville to some old fashioned velvety textures again. As a truly modern band, navigating the changing tides of the music business has been a perilous voyage for many Irish bands but Republic Of Loose have steered a wise course. Remaining independent and keeping ownership of their masters and copyrights, the band have been able to license their music to various networks including MTV and NBC in the US, TV shows and movies in the UK, France and further a field. This control has allowed the band to remain true to themselves and free of compromise. Their unyielding integrity has seem them through choppy waters only to emerge now with the sublime single ‘They Pay For Love’. Yes indeed, Republic Of Loose are back, back on top with the kind of tune that made them kings of the airways way back when.
