– The Final –

THIS IS AN INVITE ONLY EVENT

At last the time has come to announce the final two bands that will be joining StonefreeWalking on CarsIcon on FireIn the WillowsPossibly Intoxicated Gents and The Makings in the Festival Chart.

Both ‘Wild Cards’ have been selected by our panel of Judges to battle it out for a chance to play some of Ireland’s best festivals.

On the 29th May we will announce the top 3 bands to make it through to the Festivals. Each band will play one of the following Festivals – Sea SessionsGlasgowbury and Castlepalooza and all three bands will play Indiependence.

From there, they will go on to compete in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Live Final in Whelan’s, Dublin on Friday 16th of August.

Our judges will then select the overall winner that will travel to one of the international Red Bull Studios for a week’s recording under the auspices of a top producer.

Judges: •    Stuart Bailie CEO of the Oh Yeah music centre, a dedicated home for music in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.  From 1988 to 1996 Stuart was on the staff of the NME, rising to Assistant Editor in his last three years there. He has worked as a freelance journalist for Mojo, Uncut, Q, The Times, The Sunday Times, Classic Rock and Hot Press. He has written sleevenotes for U2 and wrote the authorised story of Thin Lizzy, The Ballad Of The Thin Man in 1997.

•    Brian Boyd Top music writer Brian Boyd has met everyone and heard everything a few times over during his time as an Irish Times newspaper writer and columnist. A frequent broadcaster on matters musical on both Irish and international radio and TV,  his work has also appeared in The Guardian, Q Magazine, NME, Sunday Times and Rolling Stone.

•    Niall Byrne (Nialler9) is a blogger at the helm of the most-read music blog in Ireland Nialler9.com and a writer based in Dublin. Nialler9.com has been a recipient of five consecutive awards in the Irish Blog Awards for Best  Music Blog (2007-2011) as well as Best Music Site at the Irish Web Awards in 2009. Most recently, Nialler9 was voted the 5th Best Music Blog In The World in a poll of music blogging peers.

The Judges spent the weekend deliberating over what acts they would like to see represented in the Festival Chart.

Based on their recommendations we are very proud to include the following bands into the Festival Chart as ‘Wild Cards’:

So that completes our line-up. Eight quality acts. Over the next three weeks all eight will battle it out for a chance to top the festival chart and confirm their place on the 2012 festival circuit.
