RACHAEL LAVELLE

plus guests MAEVE & QUINN ^ Upstairs ^ “Dublin-based singer whose track “Ecstasy” is full of spry, agile, impressive vocal panache.…this is a performer and writer with oodles of potential.”– Jim Carroll, On The Record, The Irish Times “a strikingly soulful, haunting voice which floats almost ethereally over her sweetly intimate songs” – Trinity University Times Hailing from Dublin, 21 year-old Rachael Lavelle is an exciting new addition to the Irish music scene. With the release of her home-recorded track ‘Ecstasy’ on SoundCloud in 2014, Rachael received astonishing hype and has since been invited to perform on Newstalk and NearFm, to sing with Booka Brass Band and played at the Trinity Ball 2015. Dipping her toes in Jazz, Folk, Musical Theatre and Classical music, Lavelle has created a strikingly original sound and cites Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Eva Cassidy as her biggest influences. Having sang and played the piano since she came out of the womb, her songwriting came at a later stage when she was inspired to create music of her own. Honest and intimate lyrics coupled with soulful melodies, Lavelle returns to Whelan’s on 26th May with talented friends for her debut summer show.
