BLADES CLUB + GROOM

With a pedigree that includes Grand Pocket Orchestra and Ginnels, Popical Island protege Paddy Hanna releases ‘Rattling Chains’, the first track from his debut solo album Leafy Stiletto.

Recorded in three days with Mark Chester (Ginnels/GPO), Paddy’s intention was to create an album of “considerable warmth” and it was realized with the help of close players Bobby Aherne (GPO/No Monster Club) and Enda Canavan (GPO). According to Paddy, “Leafy Stiletto is best listened to in a wood-paneled room with massive earphones and a neat scotch”.

The single ‘Rattling Chains’ sees Paddy tone down the idiosyncratic style that made him recognizable with GPO and opt for a more earthy vocal register. Utilizing a stripped back instrument arrangement with guitar, bass, drums and the occasional burst of harmonica, the song brings with it a solo Stephen Malkmus vibe.

‘Rattling Chains’ will be available as a free download on May 14th along with a new song. Paddy Hanna is set to tour before the summer showcasing material from Leafy Stiletto. In the meantime, ‘Rattling Chains’ is a chance to savour one of this country’s most maverick song writing talents.
