/// CALL GIRL ///

https://www.facebook.com/callgirlmusic/ To celebrate the launch of their new song “When the night is over” they will be playing a midnight gig in Whelan’s on the 19th of May. Call Girl is a four-piece band from Dublin with a sound best described as “off-kilter guitar pop”. Their songs range from overblown, disco anthems to absurdist, country-twanged critiques of conformity. Formed in 2018, Call Girl consists of former Death in the Sickroom members Mark Heffernan (front man, guitarist and songwriter) and Devin Griffin (guitar) joined by bass player, Laura Byrne, and drummer, Sean Cooling, formerly of the Dublin based electronic outfit DREWS. The choice of name arose from the need to figuratively “prostitute” oneself in this contemporary cultural climate. This, however, backfired somewhat and has resulted in the band being bombarded with messages by desperate, lonely men on social media on a daily basis. The band’s latest release, “When the night is over” was written and arranged by Mark Heffernan and recorded by Alwyn Walker in Westland Studios. The launch party for the single will be upstairs in Whelans on the 19th of May with support from Dublin band Patricia.
