MARTIN McDONNELL

https://www.facebook.com/MartinMcDonnellMusic/ https://www.instagram.com/martin_mcdonnell_music/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaBrg7Kj1LC5DLL-2K4A72Q “What if the Chilli Peppers and The Cars had a baby back in the 80’s that grew up to be a metal head” – Martin McDonnell’s explosive follow up single “Like You Did Something Wrong” out August 30th , 2019 In the deep, dark corners of the modern soul, where constant paranoia swells and plumes in alternating stories of reality, threats and betrayal hide behind emojis, we glitch and blink into our new program, half trust is as good as it gets. Love itself is now a trial, and temporary. Enjoy the ride until “They” call you in. A song for our time, Martin McDonnell “Like you Did Something Wrong” Martin McDonnell, 18 year old singer songwriter from Dublin, who’s stunning voice and mature song writing has been wowing listeners since he began playing and writing in August 2018. Developing his craft while busking on the streets of Dublin, his music has caught the attention of radio dj’s, bookers, music lovers and industry folk alike, propelling him to performances at the likes of The Ruby Sessions (previous performers include Ed Sheeran, Hozier and Gavin James), Whelans (alongside RUNAH, Patricia Lalor & Moylan) and The 2019 Makeup Awards along with many more. His debut single ‘Hold Me Tight’ received praise from the likes of Hot Press – “‘Hold me Tight’ has the mature lyrics, refined vocals and buoyant instrumentals which are sure to propel the young one to something greater than busking on Sunday mornings. Keep an eye out.” And ‘Music From The Heart’ – “The maturity of the lyrics goes hand in hand with the vocal delivery where Martin McDonnell presents himself as a seasoned singer. You wouldn’t believe this is his first release.” Now releasing his follow up ‘Like You Did Something Wrong’ Martin shows his versatility and power as both singer and songwriter, a rock, funk pop power ballad that feels like the Chilli Peppers and The Cars had a baby back in the 80’s that grew up to be a metal head. Once again Martin worked closely with veteran producer David Virgin – who has worked, on stage or in studio with the likes of Nick Cave, INXS, Mary Black, Leslie Dowdall (In Tua Nua), Cat Power & Jonathan Richman to name a few – and his sons Rohan Healy and Al Quiff at Beardfire Studio, Dublin. With the release of ‘Like You did Something Wrong’ on August 30 th  2019 on the Beardfire Label Martin further positions himself as one of the most talented and exciting young artists working in music today. — — — — —
