THE MARTIN A. EGAN BAND

THE MARTIN A. EGAN BAND

+ Suzanne Walsh, Brian Conniffe & Thingumajigsaw.

”An Indie Legend and one of the most Radical Songwriters of his Generation ” is how State Magazine described Multi Platinum Selling Irish Singer Songwriter Martin A. Egan on his return to the Live Scene in June 2009 with a Show in Whelan’s Upstairs. Egan returns to Whelan’s (Main Venue) on March 5th to Launch his Album “The Tune” covering the years 1992-1997. Egan is Internationally known for his work with Christy Moore, The Harvest Ministers, Hothouse Flowers, The Black Romantic Collective, Mary O’Regan, Sliabh Notes, and many more. Following on a frank and no nonsense conversation with Billy Bragg after his Vicar Street Show Mr Egan decided the time was right to release his Old Album “The Tune” recorded with many great names in Irish Music such as Donal Lunny, Keith Donald,DoN Baker, and the Late GREAT Jimmy Faulkner. The Album was made in response to the loss of 3 Children over a 3 year period. For various and obviously deeply personal reasons the Album was never released and Egan became known as a Neo-Expressionist Painter of the Spontaneous Mode favoured by Alice Miller in an attempt to deal with the resultant grief. That he has turned in such joyous music is a Testament to the indomitability of the Spirit. Egan will be joined on the night by Suzanne Walsh, Mr Brian Conniffe, a Sound Sculpture Artist & Thingumajigsaw. The Show will be an Intimate Acoustic Night with Martin A. Egan and his closest friends, in the Audience and on the Stage.
