Every now and then a band comes along that inspires in its fans the kind of loyalty that moves all boundaries, that will dismiss all critics and will bring truth to the fact that pure honest music will triumph over every discerning voice. Beautifully crafted songs with dynamic arrangements, powerful vocal harmonies and powerful hooks. The bands sound can only be described as diverse. Their live set changes from stunning vocal harmony laced acoustic acapella folk to edgy electric alternative rock in a seamless progressive crescendo.

In Their Thousands formed in May 2011 in Co. Donegal. Brothers Aidan and Declan Mc Clafferty and their cousin Ruairí Friel rented a house in the village of Ramelton and began writing, recording and rehearsing original material for their first demo recording. A few months later longtime friend Liam Kelly joined the band and the project became In Their Thousands. The writing and recording session grew into the material on the bands debut EP which was released to acclaim at the Earagail Arts Awakening Festival in February 2012 in the dramatic settings of Rathmullan house. Several tours around Ireland followed and appearances at high profile Music Festivals such as Indiependence and headline slots at Earagail Arts Festival.

They then returned to the studio this time under Producer Tommy McLaughlin (Villagers/Cathy Davey) for their second EP which was released in September 2012. For the EP launch three bus loads of loyal fans took a mystery tour into wild north of Donegal to a deserted barn in the countryside converted into a music venue for one night only to be part of what was described by music journalist Sean Feeny as ‘The gig of the year’. It’s this passion in their fans to travel long distances and support them that was maybe one of the major factors in them winning the Guinness/Hot Press Play On the Day National Final in November. But the other major factor is that the music speaks for itself. To a capacity crowd in Whelans they overcame their rivals in the prestigious competition. One of the judges and Editor of Hot Press Magazine had these words to say

‘In Their Thousands were absolutely brilliant. The feeling among the judges was that this is a band with huge international potential. They are superb musicians making a truly original and epic noise.’ – Niall Stokes, Hot Press

In Their Thousands are not the type of band that will come and go in todays very fickle music industry. They incite a remarkable passion in their fans and are gaining new followers with every gig. The main reason for this is simple. They write and play great music.
