Wednesday 23rd March

GRÁINNE DUFFY

GRÁINNE DUFFY

+ guests.

Blues, Rock and Soul from Co. Monaghan diva.

Gráinne Duffy is a regular at Jazz & Blues festivals in the UK & Ireland. She played three nights at Glastonbury in 2008, hosting the blues sessions on the Acoustic Stage and presenting artists like Joan Baez, Suzanne Vega, Sinead O Connor and Seasick Steve.

She was the voice of BBC Television’s own promotional advertisement which was recorded in the famous Air Studios under the guidance of Sir George Martin. She plays a mean electric blues guitar, and sings like a long lost relative of Bonnie Raitt, with classic numbers like ‘Rather Go Blind’ and ‘The Thrill has Gone’ in her repertoire. Other influences include Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix.

She took part in R.T.E’s Other Voices music programme along with Eric Bibb, Christy Moore, Duke Special, Elbow, Lisa Hannigan, Mick Flannery and Billy Bragg. Gráinne has also appeared alongside Paul Brady at Celtic Connections in Glasgow and has just returned from an extensive tour of Norway.

Gráinne is currently finishing tracks for her second album, the follow up to her stunning debut album “Out of the Dark”.  A new single, “Be Just Fine” is due for release in early March.
