WhelansLive is proud to present a celebration of new Irish music. Every Tuesday will see the upstairs venue play host to a series of the best of new music this country has to offer. Three hand-picked bands showcase their originality, performance and amazingly fresh songwriting skills. It is a great opportunity to see the next round of Ireland’s unsung and unsigned.

RADIO ROOM
Radio Room hail from Dublin, Ireland. Coming up to two years old now, the band have been keeping extremely active since its conception. With the average age of just 20, the band boasts key ingredients needed to make waves such as endless hard work, energetic live shows and a positive attitude.
Releasing 5 EPs, countless tours and a myriad of national TV and Radio appearances and music played on a national radio advert goes to show how much of a hard working ethos and raw determination that Radio Room possess.
Along with the above, Radio Room became one of the grand finalist winners of Ireland’s national radio station’s (2XM) live band competition “The King Kong Club” which saw the band play at the prestigious show run by Guinness (Arthur’s Day) where the band played in the secret venue where Mumford and Sons were the secret headliner of the night.

Robb Murphy’s inimitable style derives from his background as a producer/engineer. Retaining all the hallmarks that separates him from his contemporaries in the singer-songwriter world – he has the creativity, the passion, the raw emotion and the haunting beauty that great singer songwriters are made of.
His debut album, ‘Take A Stand’, contains a pop folk flavour with a touch Irish heritage. Tracks such as ‘Love In abundance’ builds from nothing to a crescendo of devastatingly beauty sung straight from the heart.
Robb has been getting attention from local and national radio stations including BBC NI, Radio Ulster, BBC 6 Music, and has performed various sessions for BBC Radio Ulster, RTE and GiftedLive.
Performing with an eight piece band, a recent Hotpress live review said; “On stage, Robb has the stance of a serious wordsmith, crouched sometimes sideways to the mic, intense and deliberate in his enunciation. His lyrics are exact, scarcely a syllable that’s not needed for the shape of the line. And he writes about points on the emotional arc where few songwriters ever stop off”
Armed with a distinctive voice that demands the repeat button, which is only emboldened by an uncanny lyrical ability, Robb Murphy’s debut is a must for fans of acoustic pop ballads.
