The 6 selected acts in DCTVs innovative music series, Community of Independents, will perform in Whelan’s of Wexford Street on Tuesday 6th September. Dublin Community Television (DCTV) in partnership with First Music Contact (FMC) have been funded by the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland (BAI) to make a television series exploring Independent Music in Ireland and the different layers that make up this essential and fruitful community. Created and produced by Barry Lennon of Richter Collective this phase of the project is the result of a huge response to the call out for bands to tell their story. A panel of people involved in the Independent Music Community including Angela Dorgan (FMC) , Michael Roe (Richter Collective) and Niall Byrne (Nialler 9 Blog) selected the six stories from more than 40 applicants that they felt best represented this community . We are glad to announce these acts “Patrick Kelleher and his cold dead hands”, “Axis Of”, “Lafaro”, “Owensie”, “Windings” and “Junior 85”. Tickets are on sale from today through the WAV box office at Five Euro (Including Booking Fee) and all performances will be featured, along with interviews on the changing music scene and how these acts are adapting and developing their own support structures in DCTVs upcoming series, Community of Independents.We hope you can make it along to the gig and help this project grow !
