His stunning 2010 recording Baby O!, produced and recorded in the UK by Williams and Andy Bell (Seasick Steve, The Demon Barbers, Kerfuffle), features standard blues alongside original songs. It has been played on BBC Radio Two, CBC (Canada), National Public Radio (US), RTE (IRE), and has been featured in Maverick, Rock N’ Reel, Acoustic, and been lauded by the likes of Scotland On Sunday, The Irish News and Ctrl Alt Country (Belgium), fRoots, and Blues Matters.
Baby O! charted at #29 in 2010 for Album Of The Year, top song of the year (Frank Delandry) and top artist of the year. The Time I Spend With You (Williams’ 2008 release) featured three top ten singles, including the Mississippi Fred McDowell standard, 61 Highway. Over the years Williams has recorded for labels as diverse as Signature Sounds, Green Linnet, and Solid Air Records, as well as his own Red Guitar Blue Music. He’s learned the studio trade first-hand working with roots music producers like Colin Linden (Blackie And The Rodeo Kings, Bruce Cockburn) in Toronto (Canada) and Phil Madeira (Buddy and Julie Miller, Emmylou Harris) in Nashville (US).
A respected teacher and writer, Williams regularly leads guitar and songwriting workshops throughout the world. He has two instructional DVDs on Woodhall Music-Canada, Blues Guitar Basics and Guitar Groove. Recent and upcoming workshops include Acoustic Alaska (US), Marlborough College (UK), La Grande Gennerie (FRANCE), and The Swannanoa Gathering (US). Williams also is a regular contributor to Acoustic magazine.
