ANA GOG

ANA GOG

plus guests MYLES MANLEY

Following on from the successful launch of their debut album Making Trails and a sold out gig in Dublin Unitarian Church, Ana Gog will play their first headliner in Whelans, 6th of June.

A tight-knit group with a love of dynamic and texture, Ana Gog’s distinctive sound is one forged over countless performances together where their diverse influences have been distilled into a captivating whole. At times one encounters the subtle, song-centred ease of folk music – at others, the elemental energy of post-rock.

Ana Gog’s debut release, Making Trails, is a sure-voiced album, with recurring themes of memory, loss and escape threading through the songs. This first offering reveals a band capable of making timeless, potent music, and a group of musicians who are here for the long run.

‘Music that hits you right between the ears’ – Jim Carroll

‘A focus on composition and arrangements that might just set this band apart from the many other Irish bands’ – State

‘… this incredibly diverse record reveal(s) a contemporary edge, stretching for the euphoric choruses of Arcade Fire or the idiosyncratic, classical-led methods of Owen Pallett.’ – The Ticket

‘… a finely-tuned album of big resonant drums and rich, thick bass, keys, highly strung guitars and warm vocals all arranged with feathersprung precision…’ – Harmless Noise

‘Ana Gog’s music is wistful, folk-inspired and yet dramatic and powerful at the same time..a compelling combination…’ Lisa Hughes, This is Shangri-la.

Support on the night will be provided by Dublin based pop artist Myles Manley.
